I don’t know about you, but I can’t bear having one more discussion about the challenges of 2020. So I won’t. That’s why today, I’m taking you on a trip in the Fearey time machine back to 1981…
That was the year Johnny Carson hosted the Academy Awards, Ronald Reagan became our 40th president, and MTV made its lively debut. Oh, and even though a gallon of gas cost $1.25, interest rates on a mortgage was 15.75%!
But in our halls, 1981 is known as the year Pat Fearey founded The Fearey Group – the year our renegade spirits kicked into full gear. The year when thinking fearlessly became a thing!
We haven’t stopped since.
A lot has changed in 40 years. We’ve gone from the typewriter to the smart phone and well beyond. Through it all, we’ve pushed boundaries and challenged the status quo, amplifying our clients’ stories and supporting their PR and communications needs and goals one conversation at a time. Over the last four decades, PR has evolved in its varying ways. One thing is certain, PR is still about relationships with a focus on the spoken word.
As PR evolves, so do we at Fearey. Today, we are hyperfocused on our next decade of work as Fearey.

We’re the same Fearey at heart: original, fearless, authentic. But after 40 years in business, it is time for a refresh. If you’ve visited our website in the last few days, you’ve probably noticed some changes, with many more on the way in 2021.
HOW WE BECAME FEAREY
For 40 years, Fearey has created a culture defined by fearless thinking. It’s led to significant growth, and evolution. What defines us is still our ability to amplify your stories – to help you become you, amplified.
Clients and others in the community often call us just “Fearey.” What they might not be tuned into is what that name evokes. It harks back to our namesake and first fearless leader, Pat Fearey, who took charge and started the firm at a time when few women CEOs existed in PR. Every day, we take inspiration from and tap further into Pat’s bold attitude and approach, bringing that same fearlessness forth into our work.
Since the late 2000s, Fearey has expanded both geographically and professionally, becoming one of the best West Coast PR firms. Our clients’ needs have evolved, and our business and services have evolved right along with them. We offer a full suite of digital marketing and communications services to support clients up and down the West Coast, into Alaska and Montana. These services are only continuing to grow.
FEAREY’S NEXT 40 YEARSWe’ve dropped the “Group” part of our name, leaving just one word. That word represents our incredible team and our dynamic results. Collectively, Fearey has vision. We have drive. And we will keep growing over the next 40 years and beyond.
We’re shaping our brand to help us scale and grow in step with our clients, partners and community and to inspire a new wave of originality, authenticity and fearlessness.
