UnitedHealthcare Names Nancy Ellison as Government Affairs Director
UnitedHealthcare, one of the region’s largest health care providers, has named Nancy Ellison as government affairs director for the Northwest region. Ellison will direct UnitedHealthcare’s government affairs activities and public policy development on the state and federal level. In addition, she will serve as the liaison to Alaska, Oregon and Washington State’s congressional delegations, state legislatures and various governmental agencies.
Before joining UnitedHealthcare, Ellison served as assistant vice president for public policy and director of legislative and regulatory affairs for Regence BlueShield in Washington. Prior to that, she served as deputy secretary of health for the Washington State Department of Public Health and deputy commissioner for health policy at the Office of the Washington State Insurance Commissioner.
Ellison is currently a board member and secretary-treasurer of WithinReach, a non-profit organization assisting low-income families in obtaining healthcare and food. She served two terms on the board of directors for the Association of Washington Business and is currently on the board of the Association of Washington Healthcare Plans. Ellison received a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Hawaii, a J.D. from the University of San Diego and a DrPH (doctor of public health) from the University of Hawaii, School of Public Health.
