TOP MIXED-USE DESIGN LEADERS

  • Internationally renowned architects will bring a global perspective and world-class design to a proven local firm

SEATTLE, WA – November 4, 2005
CollinsWoerman, one of Seattle's largest independent design, architecture, planning and interior design firms, today announced the addition of two high-profile team members to its growing organization.

Scott Brown joins as retail practice leader. Brown has led many prestigious, large-scale, national and international retail and mixed-use projects while with other design firms in the Pacific Northwest including NBBJ and Callison Architecture. Notables include the ULI award-winning Ayala Greenbelt Entertainment Center in Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines; Ala Moana Center at Makai Market, Honolulu, HI and Flatiron Crossing, Boulder, CO.

At CollinsWoerman, Brown will augment the growing mixed-use practice focusing on retail and entertainment planning and design.

Thomas Morton, joins CollinsWoerman as a practice leader. He is currently leading a large mixed use project for downtown Seattle as well as working with others at CollinsWoerman, pursuing corporate campus and large high-rise office building assignments.

For the past 28 years, Morton has led the design of some of the world's largest and most complex mixed-use projects, including over 11 million square feet of built high-rise office and residential buildings.

He personally received an Award of Excellence from the NY AIA for his role as Project Manager on the Museum of Modern Art Expansion from 1977 through 1984. Morton led the design of the World Financial Center in New York City, headquarters for Shearson/American Express, Merrill Lynch and Dow Jones. Tom also led the design of the Canary Wharf tower in London, England, and was extensively involved in the initial planning of the development.

CollinsWoerman's mixed-use retail practice is growing and currently the firm is working on design and construction of 11 mixed-use projects including Vulcan Inc.'s 550,000-square-foot condo/hotel/retail project called 2200 located in South Lake Union and the, 10.5-acre condo/retail project Washington Square in Bellevue for Utah based Wasatch Properties.

With 95 employees and growing, CollinsWoerman recently moved into 25,000 square feet of newly designed and renovated space at the historic Dexter Horton Building in Seattle.
