Lisa Dupar Catering Welcomes New Executive Chef Marc Van Mulken
REDMOND, Wash. (Oct. 2, 2006)Lisa Dupar Catering, the leading catering company in the Pacific Northwest, today announced that it has named local culinary veteran Marc Van Mulken as executive chef. Van Mulken brings more than 20 years experience in culinary management and food preparation, as well as emphasis on quality control, style and presentation. “Marc brings boundless energy, creativity and international talent to our team. He is a natural leader and will help keep our positive culinary brigade running professionally and efficiently,” said Chief Creative Officer Lisa Dupar. “He is a rabid Seahawks fan and may have us painting our faces green and blue on Sundays!” As executive chef, Van Mulken leads the creation, design and management of all kitchen activities. He is responsible for all food preparation and menu design, and assists in the oversight of all catering events and the company’s restaurant, Pomegranate Bistro. Prior to joining Lisa Dupar Catering, Van Mulken was part of Tom Douglas’s executive team. In 1999, Van Mulken served as lead line cook at the Dahlia Lounge in Seattle, where he was responsible for designing and implementing daily specials, prepping and organizing a service station for 240 guests per night and preparing 40 orders at a time. In 2004, Douglas promoted Van Mulken to executive chef of Lola where he was responsible for opening the restaurant to the public, hiring and training a new kitchen staff, creating and implementing a new Greek oriented menu and overseeing much of the day-to-day operations. Earlier, Van Mulken had an extensive career at Holland America cruise line where he held several positions including chef de partie and sous chef. Van Mulken also spent two years in Holland as sous chef at Charlie Brown’s Place and restaurant De Berckt. Van Mulken earned a chef’s certificate from Belgium’s Institute for Tourism, Hotel and Culinary Training and a certificate from the Institute for Professional Chef’s education program in Holland.
