Lisa Dupar's Pomegranate Bistro Finishes First Year on High Note

  • Eastside hot spot exceeds its one year sales goal by 20 percent
  • Plans bar expansion in 2007

REDMOND, WA - May 26, 2006

On any given weekday, every seat in Lisa Dupar's popular new Pomegranate restaurant is filled. As Redmond's first cutting-edge neighborhood restaurant, Pomegranate is meeting what turns out to be a long-overdue demand for neighborhood bistro dining.

"We knew when we opened Pomegranate last May that this restaurant had the potential to do well - but I don't think we envisioned the need for more seating this soon into our venture!," said Lisa Dupar, owner and chief creative officer of Lisa Dupar Catering & Pomegranate Bistro. "The success of Pomegranate has opened new doors and challenged us to really focus our business priorities over the next few years."

Now celebrating its 23rd year serving the Puget Sound region and beyond, Redmond-based Lisa Dupar Catering is widely known for its world-class catering, extensive wine program and refined service. Averaging 1,400 events a year, the company has earned its impeccable reputation through its ability to seamlessly transition from high profile events, such as a 9 course NW tasting menu for Sophia Loren, to smaller-scale corporate parties and private events.

Pomegranate Poised for Expansion

With daily lunch and dinner dining averaging close to capacity, Dupar and General Manager Jonathan Zimmer are considering a significant expansion of Pomegranate later this year.

"We've thought a lot about how Pomegranate might expand to better serve our customers," said Zimmer. "The time could be right to consider taking those ideas to the next level."

Currently, Pomegranate is attached to a 14,000 sq. ft. catering kitchen and includes an 80-seat dining room with a wall of glass windows overlooking the restaurant's "fish bowl" kitchen. Its menu hints at southern-inspired comfort food and includes an ever-evolving collaboration of the staff's family favorites. According to food critics and local businesses, Pomegranate has carved out its own unique niche on the Eastside.

With the continued strong success of Lisa Dupar Catering - and now Pomegranate - the company has decided to end its operation and management of Julep, a Seattle-based event facility.
