Experience the Heat - Not the Smoke

  • Greenwood Technologies launches smoke-free wood-fired furnaces that burn 85 percent efficient; Leaves no smoke and virtually no ash
  • Environmentally-friendly furnaces are as safe as a water heater and as easy to use as a fireplace; Can permanently reduce consumers' heating bills by 70 percent

BELLEVUE, WA - March 09, 2006
Escalating energy prices have sent families, farmers and businesses scrambling to pay high heating bills. Options to these expensive fossil fuels are limited to ash-laden contraptions, stoves that only heat one room at a time, or smoky furnaces that need to be located 200 feet from the home.

The ideal solution: An indoor-safe, smokeless, energy efficient furnace that could significantly reduce consumers' heating bills.

The company to make it happen: Washington-based Greenwood Technologies. At the March 9 th Hearth, Patio and Barbecue (HPB) Expo in Salt Lake City, Greenwood Technologies will introduce a series of wood-burning furnaces capable of capturing 85 percent of the energy released by wood without discharging smoke and leaving very minimal ash.

This incredible efficiency will enable families, farmers and businesses to permanently reduce their heating bills by up to 70 percent and often increases the resale value of homes and offices. Because it operates at 85 percent efficiency, the furnace also uses up to 50 percent less wood than other woodburning furnaces. In the coldest parts of the country, 5-6 cords of wood are all that's required to provide ample heat throughout the entire winter season.

"Greenwood's furnaces are clean burning, meaning that during correct operation they are smoke free, creosote free and virtually ash free," said Michael Kuehner, Greenwood Technologies' vice president of marketing. "Our furnace includes the best aspects of similar products rolled into one remarkable furnace."

The Greenwood furnace is also certified for indoor use and its self-contained design easily fits in a garage or small shed. Kuehner added that initial response from dealers and consumers has been very strong and demand is much higher than anticipated.

Wood-Fired Furnace Mirrors National Call to Reduce America's Dependency on Fossil Fuels
The federal government, along with cities and states coast-to-coast, are encouraging the development of products that can help decrease our nation's dependence on fossil fuels. "Using a renewable resource such as wood - instead of oil, natural gas or propane - provides families, farmers and businesses a locally renewable and environmentally safe heating alternative," said Kuehner. While petroleum dependency is high among U.S. families and businesses, the federal Energy Information Administration cites the combined use of natural gas and coal as the #1 fossil fuel energy consumed.

Experience the Heat, Not the Smoke: Smoke-free Furnace Officially Launches at HPB Expo March 9th
While the latest trends in BBQ products and gadgets may be what most expect to see at the Hearth, Patio and Barbeque (HPB) Expo, the introduction of Greenwood Technologies' clean burning furnace is expected to attract significant attention. "When dealers, retailers and distributors stop by our booth and feel the tremendous amount of heat produced from the Greenwood furnace - but don't see any smoke, we think it's going to get people talking," said Kuehner. "For a product to be this efficient and clean burning is a big step forward for this industry." Greenwood will be located at Outdoor Booth 5843 at the 2006 HPBExpo in Salt Lake City, Utah, March 9-11.
