BELLEVUE, WA - February 08, 2006
Quadrant Homes, Washington State's largest homebuilder, today announced it has introduced several new Internet-based tools designed to reinvent and simplify the homebuying process from start to finish. Quadrant is now offering its homebuyers the unprecedented capability to electronically sign their Purchase and Sale Agreements in person or from any remote location, allowing new home sales to be approved faster and more efficiently than previous paper-based systems. Quadrant's homebuyers also have the unique ability to virtually design homes online on the company's revamped Web site.
"Today's savvy homebuyers are becoming increasingly comfortable with using the Internet to enhance their overall homebuying experience, just as they've grown more accustomed to booking flights, shopping and conducting business transactions online," said Peter M. Orser, president of Quadrant Homes. "It's important that Quadrant continually innovates to meet the evolving needs of our customers and ensure a hassle-free homebuying process, which is why we are tapping the convenience and efficiency of the Internet in ways that the real estate industry has not previously done before."
Homebuilding Industry's First Electronic Sales Contract
Quadrant has fully implemented its electronic signing feature for Purchase and Sale Agreements (PSA) as a standard business practice across all of its new home communities in the Puget Sound region, and is the first homebuilder in the nation to offer homebuyers this convenience. All of Quadrant's future communities will also provide this capability. Powered by online signing technology from Seattle-based DocuSign, Inc., Quadrant's electronic signature feature allows multiple parties to sign PSAs online at the sales office or from any remote location in seconds, reducing administrative costs and errors associated with the more time-intensive process of printing and faxing paper-based documents from a remote sales office to Quadrant's headquarters for processing.
Instead of paper and pen, PSA documents are presented for signing on a computer screen with all parties present, or emailed to homebuyers at any location to obtain their electronic signature. Homebuyers can simply drag their custom electronic signature to the appropriate location on their PSAs while Quadrant's sales agents facilitate the signing process as each document is completed, eliminating the need to print out and fax or mail documents back to Quadrant's administrative headquarters. By reducing its dependency on inefficient paper-based processes, Quadrant is able to approve home sales in hours instead of days. E-signatures are completely legal based on federal legislation enacted in 2000 and provide a full audit trail for each document and signature.
Homebuyers Can Now Virtually Build and Design Homes on Quadrant's New Site
Quadrant's redesigned Web site also provides homebuyers with the added convenience and flexibility of "building" a new home online that meets their specific lifestyle needs. The state-of-the-art site includes an interactive Roomplanner tool that allows homebuyers to better visualize how they will live in their new homes, even before they visit a community and physically tour the model homes.
With a click and drag of a computer mouse, homebuyers can choose from several popular floorplans available at Quadrant's communities and configure the layout of their entire home, choose an elevation, place furniture into each room, resize furniture to custom dimensions, as well as add or remove home design features such as extra bedrooms. Once homebuyers have built their "dream home", they can save, print or email their customized floorplan for future reference.
Quadrant's Online Selection Sheet Provides Fast, Convenient Way to Choose Home Finishes
Quadrant's Web-based Online Selection Sheet further contributes to a hassle-free homebuying process by allowing customers to choose from over 10,000 interior and exterior finishing choices from the comfort of their home at any time of the day. Rather than relying on the time-consuming method of manually processing customer selections made on paper, Quadrant can automatically link homebuyers' choices to the company's purchasing database to more quickly finalize home designs. Homebuyers can also view and touch these options firsthand by visiting Quadrant's New Home Showroom in Bellevue, which features hands-on displays for carpeting, Corian countertops, Delta faucets, sinks, light fixtures, tubs, showers and Whirlpool and Kitchen Aid appliances, among other choices.
