Cascade Land Conservancy, Cascade Dialogues

A Washington-based, private, non-profit organization that preserves natural and open space lands in urban and rural communities.

  • SITUATION
  • The Cascade Land Conservancy introduced an aggressive plan to involve the public and leaders from environmental, business, academic and political arenas to develop a vision for preserving public lands and open space throughout the region over the next 100 years.

  • Stakeholders were invited to participate in the Cascade Dialogues via Town Hall Meetings and Panel Discussions with area experts.
  • SOLUTION
  • To engage and inspire the public and business community, The Fearey Group created an intensive media relations strategy that included an extensive press kit, key messages and fact sheets and media training for the designated spokesperson.

  • A media tour of King, Snohomish, Kittitas and Pierce counties kicked off the program, followed by media outreach that concentrated on local markets to coincide with Town Halls and follow-up Panel Discussions.
  • RESULTS
  • With input from the public, business and expert sources, the Cascade Dialogues committee produced the Cascade Agenda, a dynamic and vital plan that effectively mapped out community rights and responsibilities in the region′s conservation efforts.

  • The Fearey Group’s work was essential in winning public and business support and participation—as well as the blessing of environmental, academic and political leaders. The program earned 20 regional stories resulting in 239 column inches and a total circulation of 1,251,250. Total broadcast time for the Dialogues was 91:29, including a targeted story on NPR’s KPLU.
