USC Events: Changing the dialogue in the electronic dance music industry

The Conscious Crew: Changing The Way We Dance

Background

Electronic dance music is the fastest growing genre of music in the world. For decades USC Events has been the largest local promoter of EDM in the Northwest, putting on shows and festivals in venues across Seattle and the state. In 2013, The Fearey Group was retained to help USC Events build a robust corporate social responsibility plan and make connections to local public health agencies.

Strategies

Media interest in EDM and USC Events is intense. The Fearey Group represents USC Events in all on-camera interviews and press relations. The Fearey Group was instrumental in forming relationships between USC Events and the City of Seattle, King County and the University of Washington. In December 2014, The Fearey Group devised and executed the concept of a USC Events-sponsored Music Safety Summit. For the first time, promoters and representatives of Seattle Police, City Attorney’s Office, Mayor’s Office, Seattle Fire, Harborview Medical Center and other interested organizations convened to discuss festival safety best practices. Again co-sponsored by the Office of Film + Music, a second Music Safety Summit took place in October 2015. The Fearey Group helped conceive and execute USC Events’ on-going safety campaign for festival attendees, The Message.

Results

USC Events continues to grow and produce large festival shows in Seattle, Tacoma and the Northwest. Its emphasis on safety has brought national recognition. The company enjoys close working relationships with venues and cities that host its productions.
