Seattle Brain Cancer Walk

Healthcare and Life Sciences

Background

The Seattle Brain Cancer Walk was founded in 2008 in order to raise dollars for research, care and advocacy for brain cancer in the Northwest. Progressively increasing in support and participation, the fifth anniversary of the walk needed continued momentum and stellar media support to maintain the high level of excitement already surrounding the event.

Strategies

Propel Seattle Brain Cancer Walk’s Fifth Anniversary event to even greater success through excellent public relations and media support. The Fearey Group developed a “Brain Surgeon for a Day” event, used Facebook and Twitter to engage the community, and developed an inspiring story-telling photography project which gave a voice to the hopes of survivors and patients.

Results

45 stories were placed in media outlets including Puget Sound Business Journal, Queen Anne News, KOMO-TV and KCPQ-TV, generating 3 million impressions. “Likes” for the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk’s Facebook page increased by 500, there was an increase of 23% of participants registered than the previous year, and dollars raised increased by 50%.
