- A long-time advocate in the brain cancer community, The Fearey Group was asked by the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk to help increase awareness, patient support and funding for its annual event
Solution
- Implemented a targeted public relations strategy focusing on “in kind” media partnerships.
- Developed a proactive media campaign coupling personal testimonials with compelling research and facts.
- Created and developed new relationships through dedicated Twitter and Facebook pages.
- Launched the “walk season” with the first-ever brain cancer awareness event at a Seattle Mariners game.
Results
- Helped raise more than $350,000 during the 2009 event (a 200 percent increase over years past) and $400,000 during the 2010 event.
- Increased Facebook fans from 300 to over 1,500, and engaged in numerous Twitter discussions.
- Forged new media partnerships and inspired dozens of articles about brain cancer, research, survivors and people living with the disease.
