CenturyLink sought to increase their Internet service subscriber base by offering a new discounted $19 rate – and to increase their brand awareness in an impactful way that would connect to their sponsorship of CenturyLink Field, home field to Seattle’s NFL team, the Seahawks.


The Fearey Group creative team got to work to develop a compelling and viral campaign that would rouse Seahawks fans to actions. The Fearey Group created the CenturyLink #Homeseat with a green armchair and Seahawk’s cornerback, Richard Sherman, on a backdrop behind the chair. Every Friday, the chair was moved throughout Seattle. Fans found the location via social media, took a picture in the chair and tagged it to enter to win prizes, including tickets to a Seahawks game, Richard Sherman signed gear and a special Seahawks VIP experience. Combined with the creation of videos and public relations efforts, the campaign was a success.


CenturyLink increased social media engagement by over 70 percent during the contest, and gained local and national media attention that garnered over 24 million impressions.

Outlets included NBC, Monday Night Football, Fox and The Seattle Times.
