Amber Benson

At The Fearey Group we believe everyone has a story to tell. Each Friday we shine the spotlight on one staff member helping them share their stories and give insight into what makes our firm truly “fearless.”

For this week’s installment of Fearless Friday, we shine the spotlight on Account Supervisor and Division Lead of our Real Estate + Professional Services Team, Amber Benson!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Amber Benson: Crisis communications, PR consultant and toddler wrangler!

If you could dine with anyone living or dead, who would you choose and why?

AB: John F. Kennedy! What’s not to love about the Kennedys – politics, bootlegging, mafia, Marilyn Monroe, conspiracy theories, the list goes on!

What are your top five favorite movies?

  1. Wedding Crashers
  2. The Godfather
  3. Good Will Hunting
  4. Gone with the Wind
  5. That Thing You Do

What is your favorite thing about the Pacific Northwest?

AB: Endless adventure just outside my doorstep – amazing bars and restaurants, beautiful hikes, awe inspiring mountains and water – it’s all here!

What does a day being a division lead look like for you?

AB: As a division lead you have to be nimble because there’s lots of juggling. It’s similar to my background in broadcast news – lots of projects, rolling deadlines, varying personalities, it’s all there. But I like that things are constantly changing because it means new challenges and I don’t get bored!

What do you think is most important when working in the public relations world?

AB: The client is always right. 😊

What’s the greatest bit of advice a co-worker or mentor has given you?

AB: Be careful of the bridges you burn. You never know when your path in life may land you back at one of those bridges.

Which part of your work at The Fearey Group are you most proud of? Why?

AB: Bringing an intuitive insight into media, especially broadcast. I’ve helped get several TV placements and coached the Fearey team on how to work with broadcast and give them what they need to capture a client’s story in a successful way.

Any tips for newbies entering the public relations field?

AB: Know how to write WELL! Take classes in media so you understand the jobs of those you’re appealing to on a regular basis. Build relationships with reporters and editors. You’re more likely to get the attention you’re looking for if you’re more than a name on an email.
