Allen Institute: Perkins + Will Designs Innovative Space for Brain Research

Diane Geurts / December 1, 2015

After years of being crammed inside four separate buildings, the Allen Institute for Brain Science headquarters now has a sleek petal design with 270,000 square feet of space. Perkins + Will designed the innovative building to optimize the amount of space for collaborative brainstorming, with an open central atrium, glass-walled cubbyholes and common work areas. New labs will triple the former capacity to record electrical impulses from individual brain cells, expanding four sets of experimental apparatus to a dozen.

The new Allen Institute headquarters will open this Friday. Take a look inside Perkins + Will’s new design in today’s The Seattle Times.
