When a Lawyer Letter Can Mean Good PR

We’ve all seen the stories about major brands telling upstart businesses to lay off the copyright infringement. These stories usually don’t reflect well on the big company, which gets seen as, well, big, and also unfeeling.

So it’s a rare and welcome surprise to see a company lawyer do their job with just a wee dram of compassion.

It’s also good PR. So good that I wonder if the legal team at Jack Daniel’s Whiskey didn’t have that thought in the back of their minds when they sent their very sweet cease and desist letter noted here.

They’re still getting the job done for their client. But they’re doing so in a way that’s getting the brand some great press.
